What is the 18K gold rate in Saudi Arabia today?

18K gold costs 376.56 SAR per gram today (Saturday, 17 October 2026), or about 100.42 USD. This is the value of the metal alone, before the making charge and 15% VAT that a jeweller adds. 18K gold is 75.0% pure. It is harder than the higher karats and holds stones securely, which is why most diamond rings and European-style pieces are made in 18K.

What a 18K piece costs in a Saudi shop

Shops build the price in three layers: the metal at the current rate, a making charge per gram that depends on the design and the shop, and 15% VAT on the total of both. Here is an illustrative 10-gram 18K piece with a making charge of 40 SAR per gram:

ItemAmount
Gold value (10 g at 376.56 SAR)3,765.60 SAR
Making charge (example: 10 g at 40 SAR)400.00 SAR
VAT at 15%624.84 SAR
Total you pay4,790.44 SAR

The making charge is the only part that changes between shops, so ask for it per gram and compare two or three shops on that figure rather than on the gold price.

Selling 18K gold in Saudi Arabia

A shop buying your gold pays roughly the market rate for its karat, minus its own margin. The making charge and VAT you paid when you bought it are not refunded, which is why jewellery is an expensive way to save. Check the rate on this page before you go, and ask for the offer per gram so you can compare shops.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 18K gold rate the same in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam?

Yes. The metal is priced the same across Saudi Arabia, because the rate comes from the global spot price and the fixed peg of 3.75 riyals to the US dollar. Shops differ only in their making charges and buy-back margins.

How is the 18K gold price calculated?

The 24K price per gram is the spot price of one troy ounce in US dollars, multiplied by 3.75 and divided by 31.1035 grams. The 18K price is that figure multiplied by 18/24, which is 75.0% of the 24K price.

Does the 18K price include VAT?

No. Jewellery is charged 15% VAT on the gold value plus the making charge. Investment bars and coins of 99% purity or higher are zero-rated, so no VAT is added.

How often is the 18K rate updated?

Every few minutes while the global gold market is open. When the market is closed at the weekend, the page shows the last closing price.

Prices shown are the market value of the metal, updated every few minutes from the global spot price at 3.75 SAR per US dollar, before making charges and VAT. Shops set their own making charges and buy-back margins. This page is for information, not investment advice.
